POS Peripheral Devices
Rexolia POS currently supports only the receipt printer as a connected peripheral. No barcode scanner, cash drawer, or card terminal integration is required for operation. A workstation with a browser and a receipt printer is sufficient to run the full POS flow described in Making a Sale via POS.
Receipt Printer
| Aspect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | 80mm thermal printer |
| Connection | USB or network (LAN/Wi-Fi) to the workstation |
| Driver | None required. Rexolia does not install or depend on a proprietary print driver or agent |
| Setup | Install the printer at the operating system level as usual, then select it in the browser's print dialog when finalizing a sale |
How printing works
- Cashier completes checkout in the POS module.
- Rexolia renders the signed receipt as a formatted page in the browser.
- The cashier prints using the browser's native print function (or Rexolia's Print button, which triggers the same browser print dialog).
- The browser sends the receipt to whichever printer is selected in the print dialog.
Because printing goes through the browser's standard print pipeline, any 80mm thermal printer that is correctly installed as a printer on the operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux) works with Rexolia, there is no Rexolia-specific hardware pairing or configuration step.
Most browsers remember printer and paper-size selections per device. Set the paper size to 80mm (or your printer's roll width) the first time you print a receipt, and subsequent sales will use the same setting automatically.
No Other Peripherals Required
Rexolia POS does not require, and does not currently integrate with:
- Barcode scanners: products are looked up using the on-screen search bar. A scanner is not necessary to complete a sale.
- Cash drawers: cash handling is recorded in Rexolia; opening a physical drawer is a manual action outside the software.
- Card terminals: card payments are recorded in Rexolia as a payment method, but the transaction itself is authorised on your card terminal or payment provider independently of Rexolia.
Troubleshooting
Receipt does not print / prints blank
Confirm the printer is installed correctly at the operating system level and set as the selected printer in the browser's print dialog. A blank or garbled printout is almost always an OS-level driver or paper-width setting issue, not a Rexolia issue.
Print dialog shows the wrong paper size
Adjust the paper size in the browser's print dialog to match your printer's roll width (80mm). Most browsers retain this setting for future receipts.
Printer not listed in the print dialog
The printer must be installed and recognised by the operating system before it will appear as an option in the browser's print dialog. Reinstall or reconnect the printer at the OS level, then retry.
